10 Habits for Fat Loss

The reason a lot of diets and fat loss programs are difficult is because of one simple reason – you don’t have the right habits to keep it up. As a result, it is common for people to try and do too much at once, or to get an “all or nothing” mindset. However, that just leads to a significant rate of failure.

On the other hand, if you work on habits over time and build them into your lifestyle then you are setting yourself up for much more successful results. That’s why we’ve compiled a list below of 10 habits that can help you with weight loss – pick one you feel confident with, and work with it for 14 days or so. If you don’t feel super confident with any of them, then feel free to ease them up a little – for example, if exercising for 30 minutes is too much, try 10 minutes, or even 5. Then you can build that up as your confidence grows.

Being honest with yourself is key when trying out new habits – don’t focus on what you think you should be able to do. Focus on what you can do right now.

10 Habits to try

  1. Exercise for 30 minutes
  2. Take fish oil and a multivitamin at breakfast
  3. Drink at least 8 cups of water
  4. Eat at least 8 servings of vegetables.
  5. Sleep at least 8 hours (including naps)
  6. Stop eating when you feel 80% full
  7. Get up and do 5-minute muscles stretches twice during the work day
  8. Eat 4-5 meals a day
  9. Eat lean protein with each meal
  10. Replace grains with greens during each meal

Jack of all trades…

As the saying goes, “a jack of all trades, but master of none,” the same applies to these habits. Remember to pick one you think is achievable and work on it for 14 days or more. Once you feel confident in that one habit, you can start adding new ones to your repertoire.

What you shouldn’t do is try to do several – or all – of them at once, as it will most likely overwhelm you. Feel free to test out whether you feel confident by trying another habit one day to see if it works, but avoid piling them all on at once.

If you stick to one at a time, you’re more likely to develop habits that will stay with you and succeed in your fat loss journey.
